AMA with previous loss - Ultrasounds?

I'm 36 yo and after 1 m/c am now pregnant again.  This will be our first baby.  I had an early u/s 2 days ago when I lost all pregnancy symptoms.  Things looked great - baby's size and heartbeat were on target - but I am still nervous given my "advanced" age (stupid, but whatever), previous m/c, and history of unexplained IF (but we conceived naturally).

When I read the u/s report it says follow up recommendation is comprehensive scan at 18-20 weeks.

Do I really have to wait that long to see baby again?!?

For those of you 35+ and/or with 1 previous loss, are more ultrasounds usually done?  Or only if complications like spotting, etc?
