Engorgement after weaning at 18 months

I was down to 1 nursing session in the morning with my daughter the past month and I just weaned her on Saturday. I didn't expect to get so engorged, my breasts are very sore. I read online you could pump a little but I don't want to make the problem worse. Any advice on how long I can expect this to last? I've never had a plugged duct but I'm worried I might get one. Thanks ladies
