Newborn wet diapers - Pamper Swaddlers?

DS2 is two days old and we are doing good on BM diapers and number of feedings, but I'm having a really tough time telling if he is having wet diapers. He is wearing Pamper Swaddlers and there is a little yellow strip that should change colors when he wets. Is it possible he is urinating, but not enough to turn the strip?
