Breastfeeding

Pumping question for newborn

I am due in the next couple of weeks and really want to dedicate myself to breastfeeding this time around. It didn't work out so well with my DS, but that was 6 years ago, and life was really rough at that time. I'm thinking I will have more emotional energy to devote to the breastfeeding process this go around.

Anyway, I am going back to work after 2 1/2 weeks. I'm a counselor in private practice, so I have the luxury of only doing 8-10 hours a week, and I can space them out in smaller blocks of time. However, I want to have enough milk pumped so she can have breast milk while she stays with my parents when I'm seeing clients.

Based on your experience, how soon after birth would you start pumping and storing milk? What should I be on the lookout for, and how much do you think I'll need to get stored up? Concerns or food for thought? TIA!
