Did you ever overcome poor milk transfer?

My DS is 11 weeks old and we've had issues with poor milk transfer and low supply because of it.  Currently we are nursing, supplementing with pumped milk and formula and pumping with every feed.  His weight gain was slow until we started supplementing.

His nursing is still poor.  He always falls asleep at the breast, has difficulty maintaining a good latch and nursing for long periods of time.

If you had similar issues, did your LO ever improve?  I am okay to keep up with this insane schedule if there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but can't if it is never going to improve.
