S/O car seat installation/ inspection

Is it really possible that I live in a pretty decent size city and still have to drive over 70 miles (across state lines) to an inspection station? Is it worth calling local police and fire even though they aren't listed on the national sites? I'm pretty confident in the seats I already have because I've had them inspected in the past in the same car, but this is my first attempts at 3 across, and my first time installing one of the seats without a LATCH so I really want to double check. Just not sure how to pull off 2 hours of traveling + inspection time with two toddlers (since all the places I've seen are only open m-f).
