bad latch?

LO is 5weeks old. He is gaining weight,pooping and peeing just fine!

He latched on and then gulps twice,lets go,latches on gulps twice and lets go. then let down comes and he tries to keep up and then either gaggs or lets go and then to slipperry to get a nice latch. so i wipe his face and nipple and he tries again.

when he finally gets past letdwon i feel like he has taken in to much air and is now gassy and u can hear the gulps....

is this normal or should he be more relaxed and just sucking quietly? haha

I had my first public feeding and i felt like it went horrible becuz of this. Kept having to sit him up and burp him,taking him in and out of nursing cover w/out exsposing myself which stressed me out and then him...

at home i nurse on the couch and the arm rest is just right to where im able to lean into him and he is fine until of course he swallows wrong. but when im holding him i feel like that cuases him to sip more often.
