Engorgement and skipping feeding?

I have what is probably a really basic question, but I am so sleep deprived and would really appreciate the help!

I am working with a LC and dealing with engorgement/oversupply. I am doing block feedings in three hour increments and it seems to be working pretty well so far except for a little leaking and uncomfortableness but I'd really like my husband to take one feeding a night so I can get more consecutive sleep. We tried to do this last night and I woke up and my left breast was so engorged that I had to get up and pump for relief. How are you guys able to skip a feeding and not be engirged? Any tips for dealing with this? I am going to check in with my LC tomorrow for advice also. Thank you!
