Still up 2-3 x a night at 8 months, normal?

DS will be 8 months next week.  He is still up 2-3x a night.  He goes down for the night at 630-700pm and is up for the day between 5-6am.  When he gets up in the MOTN I send DH in to try to sooth him back to sleep.  This sometimes works but most of the time DH ends up bringing DS to me to nurse.  He nurses for about 5 mintues (a good feed) and then he's right back to sleep.  He's up about every 3 hours on average.  I don't mind it so much because he is right back to sleep so really I'm only up for 5 minutes at a time.  I just need to hear this is normal for an 8 month old.  Everyone keeps telling me I should let him CIO because he should be sleeping at this age and he is waking up out of habit.  But honestly, he is so distracted during the day and I feel that he has good solid feeds in the MOTN so I'm afraid to cut them out.  What do you ladies think?  I guess I just need some encouragement from other BFing mommas.  TIA.
