Implantation bleeding

I am two days before my cycle should start, and I am wondering what exactly is implantation bleeding. I never start my cycle early, and this month we have been trying and I want to make sure that I am pregnant, will be going tonight to get a test but can someone tell me. I whipped today, and it was pink on the TP, so I put on a pad, and a small amount of pinkish stuff was on it, could I be pregnant?
