Random q about food timing

We are going to start trying to give LO a piece of avocado or other BLW friendly food. We wanted to start around the 6 month mark. I have been told that the 6 month "ok to give food" mark is actually the end of 5 months and in the 6th month. So right now my ticker says 4 months and one day, which mean LO is in her 5th month. Does this mean next month around this time qualifies for 6 months?  or do you wait until 6 months is completed and begin in the 7th month?
