yellow goopy eye

so DS woke up this morning and his left eye had yellow/greenish goop so I wiped it out, well as the day went on it got worse. I have no idea what is causing it, I plan to call the doctor in the morning but am pretty sure daycare wont let him in. Has anyone else had an issue with goopy eyes?
