What is going on?

DD is 6 weeks old and aside from some latching trouble in the beginning has been a good eater with no problems. This week she started eating every hour at times, so I thought it must be a growth spurt. The last 2 days we end up with these marathon nursing sessions where she starts off eating vigorously, then falls asleep and just sucks like on a paci. So I unlatch her thinking she is done and she sleeps on my shoulder while I burp her. Then after a few mins she wakes up and wants to eat again and the cycle continues. My nipples can't take it any more and I feel like I spend the whole day nursing! Do you think this is a growth spurt? Bad habit? Or could it be a low supply? Any advice?
