Weaning due to subchorionic hemorrhage

Hi, I am pregnant with my second baby and have been nursing my toddler who is almost 23 months.  I had planned on letting him self wean, but yesterday I experienced "gushes" of blood and thought for sure I was miscarrying.  I was sent in for an ultrasound and fortunately baby is fine, but I have a subchorionic hemorrhage.  I spoke with my doctor today and she said I need to be done nursing now.  No slow weaning, just done so that I don't irritate my uterus anymore.

I have no choice, but to cold turkey wean.  We were supposed to fly about 1200 miles this weekend for a wedding, but I am not cleared to go.  I am wondering if it would be good for my husband to take my son so he isn't around me and not thinking about nursing for several days or would this be harsher than trying to wean at home?  Any other strategies or helpful tips on the gentlest way to cold turkey wean ( if there is such a thing)?  This is really unexpected and upsetting to us both.
