How often does/did your 5 month old nurse?

DS used to be hungry every two hours like clockwork.  Lately, I still offer about this often, but he is much less interested.  He pops on and off, twists his head and basically doesn't nurse nearly as much most of the time, but will do about three solid sessions during the day where I know he's really eating.  I'm wondering if this is just developmental and I should keep trying or if he simply doesn't need to eat as often as he used to. It's hard to do it on demand now because he gets so distracted with the world around him that he rarely fusses to eat anymore.
