When do feedings space out?

So I went to DS's 2 week appt yesterday and pedi said that I can go on his cues for feedings instead of feeding every 2 hours (unless he needed it before the 2hr mark).  He's still been every 2 hours (more since he's going through a growth spurt).  Just wondering when they start to space out a bit.  I don't remember when it spaced out with DD, so I'm curious.  It doesn't help that I'm still exhausted and just want more than an hours worth of sleep between feedings.
