Passifier "Rules"

I introduced a passifier after about 2 weeks.  I was adiment about not giving one ever!  But I caved.  DD is now 10 weeks.

I really only give it to her:

  1. after she has a long productive nurse (or bottle), but still wants to suck,
  2. or when she's sleepy and needs some help falling asleep
  3. at bedtime after she nurses (if she's still awake and wanting to suck).
  4. in the car or store  when she's fussy

DH tries to give it to her whenever she even gets the least bit fussy / irritated.  Whenever he's watching her, I'll come downstairs to find he's pluged her up.

I really don't want her to become dependant on it.  I really don't want a 2-3 yr old running around with a passifier.

Do you have any pssifier "rules"?

At what age should I wean from the passifier?

Me 32. DH 38.
