Lanolin Warnings?

I was given samples of Medela Lanolin in the hospital and have been using it to "glue" my nipple shield on...DH went to Walgreens to pick up a tube and the lady warned him on it's use! She said to only use it on nipples and lips where there are no pores since its a carcinogenic...WTF??????  It's been all over my breast, I wipe the excess on my arm...DD has had it all over her too...

And the lactation people said it did not need to be cleaned off my nipples before feeding...

Anyone else warned? I will def be asking the ped and OB on Wed.
