Another question about pumping!

My LO is 13 days old. I want to start pumping just to build a small stash for when we go out and I don't necessarily want to pump in public (gatherings, to the mall etc.) I don't need a huge stash as I am not going back to work for another year.

I have read that the best time to pump is in the morning which I am going to try to start tomorrow. Is it good to do it right after or wait a bit?

I fed him this evening and then just tried to pump a bit after to get the feel for it. I was able to get 1oz out of one side, I never did try the other side.

 Is that ok to only do one side at a time?

Also after my nipple looked really big and all funny looking. Is that normal? It does not get that big after LO feeds.
