Newborn not loosing birth weight

My friend had her DD Monday afternoon. I went to the hospital Tuesday morning to visit. She told me that she did skin to skin right away and LO brought herself to the breast and started nursing 10 minutes after she was born. She nursed like a champ and has ever since. She also told me that LO weighed exactly the same as she did the day before. I had never heard of that. Is this because she is such a great nurser from the start? Or does it sometimes take longer than a day to loose any weight? I am happy for her (and honestly a little jealous) that she has had such a great start to bfing.
