Mystery nipples... Thrush?

My nipples are covered in a white substance, reminiscent of lanugo on a newborn. My mom (an RN and mother of 5 breast fed kids) happened to see me as I finished pumping and felt like it was thrush, but from what I see online, thrush nipples look nothing like mine. I started nystatin last night and am not seeing a difference - maybe too soon? Any ideas what this is? Any experience something similar?
