I am going permanent at my job -- yay!
And I'm getting health coverage -- yay!
And now I have to choose Mercy or Kaiser. I don't know how regional health care choices are, but in my area Mercy is a collective, a group of doctors with hospital affiliations. The facilities are somewhat out of date, but I've always been satisfied with my level of care. Labor is private but recovery is in a shared room and I've found some a mix of happy and horror stories on the internet.
Kaiser is a full-service provider, and just opened a brand new Women and Children's center in my area (http://xnet.kp.org/insidekp/multimedia/slideshow/roseville/) all private rooms, and they encourage you to write a birth plan. I've only just started exploring it as an option, but so far it looks like a dream, right? Is it dangerous to change providers at 15 weeks? Would you?
