Breastfeeding

Maybe dumb question, but humor me (re: gas)

Ok, this question might be silly, but I'm really wondering.  My newborn passes gas a lot (I know this is normal), but it STINKS horribly.  So so bad.  I'm not really concerned that he has a lot of gas, and the gas doesn't seem to bother him.  But since his poops don't really smell all that strong, it really surprises me how awful his gas smells.  I will say, he is a very infrequent pooper -- once every 2 to 5 days or so (he is gaining great, poops look fine, we've done a weighed feeding and he's emptying my breasts, so that's not really a concern).  Is it possible the gas smells worse because of the infrequent BMs?  I know I'm  being ridiculous asking why my baby's farts smell.  But I really am just wondering whether this is indicative of some kind of intolerance of something in my diet?  He doesn't spit up often, or show any other signs of distress.  Thanks in advance!
