Baby shower etiquette

I apologize if this has already been a post in the past, but I need some advice!

Recently, I told my mom and MIL that I wanted to take them out to discuss baby shower dates, guest lists, ideas, etc. Then after talking to different friends I realized that maybe I jumped the gun and shouldn't have been the one to suggest it. I don't want them to think I'm assuming they will help or throw me one and that I'm imposing. They both don't mind.

I'm just getting stressed and anxious about setting a date/planning!! Pinterest doesn't help because I have all these ideas!

What do you do if no one offers to throw you a shower? How do you politely bring it up? I had a friend that ended up planning her own shower and then her MIL and SIL jumped in to help her. I'm such a planner and wouldn't mind planning my own!
