Elective Ultrasound - Doubting Accuracy (and Regrets)

So.... my A/S isn't going to be until 20 weeks. I decided that I didn't want to wait, and went to one of those elective ultrasound places (where they do the 3D/4D, photography, etc) for a 2D gender determination. It seemed like a good idea, but now I wish I had just waited Sad

Basically, they told us we're having a girl, but it feels like they just said that instead of admitting that it wasn't conclusive to avoid having to give us a free follow-up session (the company has a policy that if they can't tell the gender you get to come back for free). There was no visible genitalia - so they said it's a girl because they didn't see a penis, but since they couldn't see labia either we don't feel confident in the results. At this point, we've decided not to share anything with family and friends until we get our 20 week A/S at the specialist. The quality of the ultrasound was also definitely not up to par with our specialist (who did the 1st trimester screen/NT scan). After doing some searching on the net I have found several complaints of people getting incorrect genders from elective places (in general, not this specific company). Am I just overreacting? Or am I right not to trust it because we didn't see definite proof?
