Last weekend my DS started sounding like he had a stuffy nose and some head congestion. He had his 2 month check up on Tuesday so I mentioned it to the pediatrician. The pedi listened to him and said he thought he had a cold but wanted to test for RSV to be sure. Well, on Tuesday the RSV test came back negative. Thursday night, DS started coughing an awful sounding cough (my mind immediately went to the pertussis commercial! Scary!) so Friday morning, I took him back to the pedi first thing. The pedi reordered the RSV test and this time it came back positive! The pedi says there is not a lot they can do for babies this young and that the virus will have to run its course.
Well, today my DS sounds awful. He has a rattle sound when he breathes and the cough is just pitiful. He won't let me or DH put him down. It is heartbreaking to know he feels so bad. Has anyone else experienced RSV with your baby? Any advice on how to help make my LO not feel so miserable?
I am a FTM and feel so helpless!
