Anyone's LO doesn't like being held?

DS doesn't like being held when he is awake and alert.  He loves lying there by himself so that he can kick his arms and legs, and wants someone to sit and play with him, and is very interactive.  But if you try to hold him (and it doesn't matter who does it or what position we try to hold him), he'd tolerate it for 10 - 15 minutes and then he'd start to cry.  This really wasn't a problem except now he has a flat spot on the back of his head and we've been told to try and keep him off his back more often - which is hard to do when he doesn't like being held.  Just curious if anyone else's LO is like this.
