OB gave bad advice?

i exclusively pump so i can keep track of my production since it's low (7oz/day). my ob gave me regular birth control pills and told me they won't impact my milk production and will be totally fine. she told me the mini pill won't work for me given that i don't exclusively breastfeed.  this might be true but i think i've read that the regular pill may decrease supply.  is this true? i haven't started taking the pill yet for fear that my already low supply will plummet.
