Issues with Birth Control

Has anyone out there had any issues after being on birth control for a bit?? I have been on a rather high doseage for about 3 years. I am going off of it, pending doctor approval, but wanted to see if anyone has had issues. One of my close girlfriends is having HUGE issues and was on a rather low doseage and her doctor is blaming her issues on the birth control. Sad and scary! Thoughts?
