My child scares me sometimes

Yesterday she called me a "Pooty Poot". So I explained that name calling is not nice and hurts people's feelings. She said, "But you're mom. But you're not mom, your name is ________, And my name isn't baby or bear, it's Charlotte." I swear she outsmarts me daily. I had no answer other than "well those are nice names."  Mom fail. How do you teach the subtle difference between pet nicknames and name calling?
