Nuchal Translucency Screening...Thoughts?

We are supposed to be scheduling our 11 week ultrasound within the next couple of weeks and were asked if we were interested in having the Nuchal scan done. We don't have any genetic issues with either of our families that we are aware of.  Is this necessary? Is it something insurance generally covers? Any thoughts, opinions welcome. Thanks!
