Extermination

So I had to call my exterminator at work to spray for flies and I told him I was pregnant and he told me not to be around when he was doing the work and for a couple of hours after, I then remember that before I knew I was pregnant I had been with them when they were spraying one of the apartments for bed bugs, and I asked several times if it was safe to be present, and they said yes.  So I asked the exterminator specifically and he said that I shouldn't be around but since a respirator is not required that I should be fine.  Has anyone else dealt with this or know the right answer of whether or not I should be worried?
