Alert, sleepy, alert, then snoring

So....I find it absolutely hilarious and irritating at the same time that at one moment, I'm alert, I'm laughing and then literally 10 seconds later, I am almost dead to the world in being SO sleepy! I take it that this is normal, yes? I hope so because I'm dozing right now as I'm typing.
