What to expect..?

My husband and I have a 14 month old son and are expecting a second. With my first pregnancy we didn't discover we were pregnant until almost the end of the second trimester as I had no symptoms. This time we are only 11 weeks along but I've been hearing that the later your first appointment the more danger the baby is in. What should I worry about until I can see my doctor?
