Hi- I am reposting here because I haven't gotten any responses on 2nd Tri or High-Risk and thought maybe someone here might know about this. Thanks in advance for any info you've got!
Today my doctor mentioned that my 2nd tri bloodwork showed a higher than normal level of HCG. He said that sometimes this can be linked with Downs but he said my baby definitely is not at risk for that based off all the other tests/levels/results.
What he did say was that it could mean my placenta isn't very good and that it could "poop out" early. He said they'll do a 30 week u/s to check (just had my 19 week one today) to see if the baby is behind in size which could be caused by the placenta being too big and squishing the baby. If baby is behind at 30w, they will do u/s every three weeks and then deliver the baby early. He said I shouldn't worry too much and that in many cases like this it works out fine, but of course I am still a little nervous.
Anyone heard of this?
