I just read the above article and thought it was worth sharing. Anytime I have to call a repairman out to fix something I get a little anxious because I'm scarred I'm going to get ripped off. I'm one of those guys that can only do the most basic repairs and I have to rely on others to fix the major stuff for me. I've been lucky so far to have had decent recommendations and haven't been screwed over yet. Same goes with car mechanics. Going to one scares the crap out of me because I'm basically at their mercy.

So, how do you guys feel about having to fix stuff? I have a feeling a lot of you guys are do it yourselfers. Feel free to share what your process is from diagnosing to fixing. What about you guys like me though? Any similar feelings? How do you go about finding someone to fix your stuff? Any good rip off stories? Has anyone heard of Angie's List? I just heard about it today but haven't explored it yet.
