TTC next year, to carry health ins or not

DH and I want to TTC next year.  I currently buy my own health insurance, a plan geared towards healthy young adults.  The maternity rider is $$$$.  We've been looking for other plans, both for just me and family plans.  Maternity rider is $$$.  Not as high as current provider, but up there.

DH wants to know what the average cost is of a pregnancy and delivery, assuming everything goes smoothly and there's no complications.  Have any of you ladies paid for your pregnancy in lieu of having insurance, or know what the billable amount would have been if you didn't have insurance, and would be willing to share cost estimates with me?
