Breastfeeding

How common is nipple cracking/bleeding?

Yesterday I found out that I tested positive for a fairly common blood infection. I haven't seen my doctor in person yet, but Dr. Google tells me that I'm fine, I should be able to breastfeed still and baby will probably be fine with a vaccination. Though, I may have to pump and dump if my nipples are cracked or bleeding - basically if there's any chance of baby ingesting my blood. I'm wondering if you ladies can tell me how common these nipple issues are - what percentage of BFing moms get it? I'll be sure to be very careful about using Lanolin and air drying. What else can I do? TIA
