Private Health Care with a 6 Month Wait?!?!

New to private health maternity info. I have 2 kids and didn't add maternity at the time when we had to get private health care. I am thinking of ttc and wanted to do some research. Call our insurance company today (Anthem) and got some crappy news....I thought could just pay extra and add it. NOPE!

Our renewal date is October 2012 and then I have to wait 6 months to even start trying? April 2013 mean baby would not come till Jan 2014 or later?!? WOW!

What other options with health care do I have besides paying out of pocket which could be over $10k
