Bras - underwire or not?

I've been wearing nursing tanks pretty much exclusively since DS was born. I bought a couple of Medela nursing bra's and I loathe them... I'm headed back to work in a couple of weeks so I need to get a good nursing bra so I can wear work clothes... I've never had luck w/out an underwire in terms of getting good support (big chest & shoulder/neck issues) but I was told at the bra store that underwires are a no-no... just curious for those who've tried them were they really that problematic?
