Help... small mouth + huge nipples -=- success

I cannot seem to latch DS properly on a consistent basis.  He had his tongue-tie fixed yesterday, which definitely helped, but anytime I am full, my nipple area just seems too large for his mouth.  I try to hand express milk before he eats to soften the area some, but it doesn't help.

He opens his mouth wide, and I try to make sure as much of the areola as possible in, but it still hurts, and he's still making the open sores on my nipples worse.

I really want this whole BFing thing to work out, so I'm trying to push past the pain, but I can only do that for so long.  I'm calling an LC today to get some help with positions and trying to latch him better, but in the meantime, if you have suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

Also, if you have any suggestions on how to make engorgement less of an issue without pumping, please chime in!
