Ladies w/experience with clogged ducts

I have had a clogged duct for about 6-8 weeks now and I'm due with DD#2 in about a month. I visited a lactation consultant at the hospital and she told me to put olive oil and a warm compress on the nipple. It is still here.

How long did it take for your clogged duct to go away and what did you do to get rid of it?? Is there a way to prevent?
