How long does it last??

How long does the 6 week growth spurt last?  The last two days DS has been pretty much non-stop attached to my boob!!  I am worried he is not getting enough to eat because he will latch on for a bit and then let go and get mad... then latch on again and get mad... we go through this several times!  I'm about to throw in the towel and give him formula for my own sanity!!  Tell me this will pass quickly!
