Is this thrush?

Last night out of nowhere I started having a shooting burning pain in one of my nipples. It comes every few seconds and lasts a couple of seconds. It was so bad last night that I could barely sleep. My breast is also somewhat itchy. I don't have any pain while nursing on that side except for the burning pain that comes on even when I'm not nursing. Could this be thrush? I will be calling my doc tomorrow to make an appt. If it sounds like thrush, is there anything I can do in the meantime before I get to see the doc? Baby does not show any signs. TIA!
