If you used breast shields before delivering to help with flat nipples

Did you find they helped?

I have pretty flat nipples so they gave me shields after I had DD1 while in the hospital, I called the lc because they are still pretty flat and she told me that I could start wearing them now that I am full term to help pull them out before delivering. Was it worth it to start wearing them before or should I just wait until I have DD2 to start wearing them?
