Nursing to sleep

My almost one year old nurses to sleep most nights (I try not to, but sometimes she just kind of passes out) and wakes at least 2 times in the night to nurse.  I am fairly confident that she is not hungry, but is just waking out of habit/comfort.  She freaks if my husband tries to comfort her or if I just try to rock her.  Most nights, nursing is the only thing that will get her to go back to sleep and I typically just give in since I am exhausted and have to get up for work.  I should also note that as of about 2 weeks ago, her milk intake during the day a daycare has plummeted.   I am ready to wean but am afraid of what this process will be like.   Anyone else go through this?  Anyone else's 1 year old still waking so frequently at night?
