pumping ? and milk flow

Hello,

I know that it's normal to have a few let downs while nursing/pumping. I wonder if the experiences I have while pumping reflect an insufficient milk supply. While I pump, milk sprays out LESS often than it does. I return to the quick phase several times while pumping, but I'm not sure that it helps. I would say that, if I pump for 20 minutes, milk is actually coming out for 5-10 of those minutes...and that is on and off...not consecutive 5-10 minutes. Is this normal? Maybe my pump is shot? (medela pisa, purchased 2007) What are your thoughts? DD isn't gaining quickly enough, so now I'm wondering if I am starving her?
