Vit D supplement?

Took LO to his Pedi 2 week appt today and the Pedi said that since LO is being EBF that I need to start giving him vitamin D drops and proceeded to give me samples of Enfamil formula and vitamin D drops. With DS#1 we had to supplement so apparently he got his vitamin D through the formula. I guess I am just a bit confused as I thought Breast Milk gave my baby everything he needs.

What are your thoughts and is this normal for a Pedi to be pushing this or is this something that the formula companies try to get breast feeding moms to use.
