Do you pump both sides when LO only eats from one?

This may sound like a silly question but I'm going to ask it anyway...DS ony nurses one side at each feeding.  We were block feeding (3-hr blocks, so the same side twice in a row before switching) due to over-supply but now I can usually alternate, depending on how much he had at the last feeding, without creating any issues.  When I return to work, will it be OK to pump both sides at the same time even though that's not what we actually do?
