Why does he do this?!

My son has started stretching his arm out totally straight and locking his elbow while nursing. Most of the time, he pushes into my breast when he does this, which pulls it out of his mouth, even if I am holding the breast, which I almost always am. This is frustrating for him, and painful for me! We've tried giving him other things to hold onto (blanket, lovey, my shirt, my hand), but e always goes back to pushing on me. I'm hoping it's just a phase, and will go away quickly, but in the meantime, owy!

Any idea why he would do this? And any other ideas on how to get him to stop?
